ABOUT IGE
WHO WE ARE
THE INSTITUTE OF GLOBAL EDUCATION
Welcome to the Institute of Global Education (IGE), a non-profit organization based in Oregon. As a 501(c)3 organization, we rely heavily on support from individual donors who share our mission of educating and empowering people to improve the world. Our network includes leading professionals from around the globe who bring diverse skills and connections to our cause. Together, we aim to make a positive impact and create a better world.

OUR CORE STATEMENTS
At IGE, we focus on funding projects that are effective and address critical issues such as poverty, ignorance, and discrimination. We also value the preservation and revitalization of traditional wisdom. We aim to achieve immediate and long-term results, constantly striving for improvement.
We passionately advocate for global education, poverty eradication, and the fight against discrimination. Additionally, we actively participate in sustainability efforts to combat climate change.
OUR VISION
IGE envisions a world where peace, self-sufficiency and living in harmony with our natural environment is a way of life.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to educate people in how to build peace, prosperity, and self-sufficiency in their communities.
OUR METHOD
To achieve this goal, we will empower students and partners to collaboratively develop the abilities to promote food and water sufficiency, reverse environmental degradation, mentor social equity, develop skills for social enterprise toward building local, eco-friendly, regenerative economies and to optimize human potential within and for local and global communities.
OUR OPERATING CRITERIA
In pursuing its mission, IGE’s programs and partnerships are chosen and operated to achieve SYNERGY: Simultaneously address spiritual, political, social, economic, and environmental factors. Yield increased effectiveness through integration and collaboration. Navigate from problems to opportunities. Eliminate poverty, ignorance and discrimination. Retain and reclaim traditional wisdom. Gain both immediate and longer-term results. Yield continual improvement of quality of life across all cultures.

CONSULTATIVE STATUS
UNITED NATIONS ECOSOC STATUS
IGE was granted special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in 1998.
IGE applied for membership on the Council in order to have a closer working relationship with the international community. We believe that IGE’s background and experience, particularly in working with indigenous peoples and providing education for marginalized youth in India would contribute to the work of the Council’s fulfilling its mission.
At a meeting of the Council the members agreed and voted unanimously in favor of admittance. Since then, IGE has participated in the deliberations and activities of the Council whenever appropriate.
